Passing of Broth Knight John Garrett.

 John F Garrett, 68, passed away peacefully on March 27,2021 at his home in Springfield, MO after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  

John was born September 25, 1952 to Lt. Col. Len Garrett and Marjorie (Schmidt) Garrett in Eta Jima, Japan.  He graduated from Parkwood High School in Joplin, MO in 1971.  He met the love of his life Stephanie Cavanaugh, and they were married May 17, 1975. The couple moved to Springfield where John continued his career in sales, and they raised their family. In 2016, John retired from Metro Appliances & More. , Anyone who knew John knows his family and faith meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of his daughters.  Beyond his passion and love for his family he was a man of faith and an active member of his parish, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He supported Springfield Catholic Schools, to include several years on their school board. He had many achievements while belonging to the Knights of Columbus and serving his community. He loved to play golf and could often be found on the golf course when he wasn’t at home. 

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Stephanie; three daughters, Misty Stephens (Will Kavanagh), Francine North (Richard), and Cheri Duran (Patrick); two sisters, Diana Warden (Gary) and Karen Stockton; grandchildren Olivia, Aidan, Paige, Kaia, Grace, Charlotte, and Remedy. He is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A rosary will be held at 5:00 PM with a visitation to follow from 5:30 PM -7:00 PM on Monday April 5, 2021 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday April 6, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Springfield Catholic Schools, 2340 S. Eastgate, Springfield, MO 65809, www.scspk12.org, or to Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA.org).Brother Knight John Garrett passed away and we were asked by John’s wife Stephanie to contact the Knights to see if they would do the Rosery and have an honor guard.

His arrangements are:

Monday 5^th at 5:00pm is scheduled for the Rosary at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 1947 E. Seminole

Monday 5^th from 5:30pm – 7:00pm will be visitation.

Tuesday 6^th mass at 10:00am at HT

25th Anniversary Celebration Fr Francis

Parishioners,

You are invited to a celebration after the 10:30am Mass on Easter Sunday, April 4, in the parish hall for the 

beginning of the 25th year of anniversary of Father Francis' priesthood.  Please come by the hall after Mass 

to celebrate with us!  Cake and beverages will be served.  Father will be on holiday from April 7 to May 7 so 

he won't be here on the actual date of his anniversary which is April 25.  Hope to see you all there!

Knights in Action Fish Fry Fri March 26th

Thanks to everyone that came and helped at the Drive Thru Fish Fry.  It was so good to see all of you.  The fish fry had a gross income of $1539, which is similar to a good turnout at a “regular” dine in fish fry.

Massachusetts Knights Lend a Helping Hand From the onset of the pandemic, Council 4822 in Ashland, Mass., established a hotline that allowed community members to request assistance. Through this service the Knights have completed tasks ranging from prescription deliveries, to transporting a birthday cake to an individual with special needs, to providing a ride on Memorial Day so a widow could visit her husband’s grave. READ MORE

KoCAA is one of the world’s largest Catholic asset management investment firms, and manages approximately $29 billion in assets It is the second time the Knights of Columbus International Equity Fund has won a Refinitiv Lipper Award in one of the International Multi-Cap Core categories. Novena for Father McGivney

Pray the Blessed Michael McGivney Novena March 20-28

Knights, their families and others are encouraged to pray the Blessed Michael McGivney Novena from March 20 until March 28, concluding the day before the 139th anniversary of the founding of the Knights of Columbus. The novena includes daily reflections about the life and priestly virtues of the Order’s founder, Father Michael J. McGivney. Each day includes petitions invoking his intercession and concludes with the prayer for his canonization. Daily recorded videos of the novena will be posted on the Knights’ official Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts and can also be accessed on the Father Michael J. McGivney Guild website.
