Prayer Request

Brother Knights SK John Teiskotter contacted me today about his sister, Rita Gullord. She suffered a heart attack yesterday and is in the ICU at Mercy Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She has had a stint put in but needs a heart valve replaced. Please include her and the whole family in your prayers.

Lord Jesus Christ, we ask that you grant comfort to Rita during this time and ease her mind as she prepares for this major surgery. We know all things are possible through you, Jesus, please lend your guidance to the doctors and nurses as they perform this operation and let there be no complications. Allow the power of your grace to pour out upon Rita so that her pain is minimal and her recovery is swift. We ask this in your Holy name Jesus Christ. Amen

Michael Brothers,

There comes a time when the best thing you can do to help is get on your knees and pray.

As you are all aware we recently did a fish fry for Daisy Runyan (Don Broyles’s granddaughter) who has been diagnosed with ADA SCID which is a severe form of immunodeficiency.  She must stay isolated to protect her from contracting any bacterial or viral infections. She is currently going thru chemotherapy in preparation for a bone marrow transplant on Sept. 12.

As a parish family we are planning a Novena to be prayed to Carlo Acutis asking him to intercede for Daisy for a complete recovery from her illness. This parish Novena will be prayed from September 3-12 during Eucharistic Adoration and can also be prayed from home on days when you are not able to attend in person.  The Novena will be provided in bulletin and ATTACHED.  Brothers we have been asked to lead the Novena!  I need your assistance below are times for Novena, simply reply just to me and put your name next to a time.  Please sign up for one or more! I will start and end with Benediction with Father Francis.

Info about Carlo Acutis and why we are asking for his intersession:

Carlo Acutis is a Blessed in the Catholic Church.  He was a young man of 15 when he passed away from Leukemia.  Form the age of 7, after receiving his first Holy Communion, he dedicated his life to Christ.  He went to daily Mass, prayed the rosary daily and worshipped in front of the tabernacle daily.  He is known for his web page documenting the Eucharistic Miracles from around the world.  He said, “Our aim has to be the infinite and the finite.  The infinite is our homeland.  We have always been expected in Heaven.” He was wise beyond his years.

Carlo was very faithful in his adoration of the Eucharist and one said, “If we get in front of the sun we get sun tans but when we get in front of Jesus in the Eucharist, we become Saints.”  Carlo awaits one more miracle to be declared a Saint and we await a miracle for Daisy.

Please assist brothers!

YBIC,

Michael

Knights Prayer
Our Lady, Queen of the Knights, bless all the activities of our Order.
Keep us true to our pledge, to extend the kingship of thy divine son on earth.
Through Thine intercession, win for us the grace, ever to exemplify in our public and private lives,
the virtues that should characterize those especially dedicated to the service of the heavenly court.
Make us always aware that as your Knights, we are constantly observed, our faith judged, and our Order appreciated.
Accept, O Mary, this renewed pledge of fealty and devotion, of Thy Servants, the Knights of Columbus. Amen.

I apologize for the late notice. Please share this with your councils. This is a beautiful Novena. Thank you.

Brothers:

As I said in my email earlier in the week, I would ask you all to pray the Blessed Michael McGivney Novena with me in the nine days leading up to his feast day on August 13th, if you are willing. This is something we did last year as well which seemed to be fruitful. Attached is the Novena itself and I will send something out throughout the nine days.

Certainly, if you think it would be good, and they are not already doing something for the feast day, please feel free to forward this to your councils as well.

Thank you and Vivat Jesus!
