Prayer List

Brother Knights, Russell Rouse could use some prayers right now. SK JohnTieskotter messaged me today and said that Russell had dental work done on Wednesday that he is in the process of recovering from. He has also had a lot of pain due to his hip which they are going to replace but he has to be nicotine free before they will do the surgery. We know it is very hard to stop an addiction like smoking especially when one has done it for years. Let us pray not just for Russell to be able to get nicotine free so he can have the surgery but that if Russell wants to kick the habit for good he can. Lets also pray for healing and strength during this time. 

Update on Don, I was sent this update earlier this week and had not got a chance to send this out for that I am sorry. 

"Don is now at Quail Creek. He is on the Redbud wing, room 56. 

He had quite the reaction to the IV antibiotics, and was displaying stroke signs. After all the tests were done, they determined it was an antibiotic reaction. Once the bad antibiotic left his system he returned to normal. Thank you God!

His eye surgery will be this Thursday the 28th, Don will most likely stay in Quail Creek for 2 weeks. He also meets with an infectious disease doctor next week to see what they can do about breaking this UTI cycle. Please pray that they can successfully stop the UTI's. Thank you so very much for keeping Don in your prayers."

I did ask and Don would love to have visitors.  

Lord Jesus Christ, please watch over and both Don and Russell during these trying times.  Help heal them and give them strength. Allow your strength to not only give them physical strength but to run deeper and to solidify their mental and spiritual resolve. Lord you healed the blind, please allow us to see you clearly. You healed the deaf mute, please allow us to hear you and to speak your word. You healed the lame, please allow us healing and strength to follow in your path. Lord Jesus Christ, we know that all things are possible through you therefore we hubbly ask that you help our brother knights. Amen

Council Happenings

Brothers, we have a couple of things happening this weekend. Please help where you can, and thank you for all you do.

First, please come and help tomorrow to build the 5' X 10' deck and 12' ramp for Belinda Perryman at 416 S Pine St Apt 107 at about 9AM. Tomorrow is Belinda's 60th Birthday and she said she'd make us some soup for lunch.

Second, this is a fifth sunday so please, help out with the Liturgical Ministries where you can.

New Council/Districy Knights at Varona Exemplification Aug 23rd,2025

Update John Tieskotter coming out of retirement to construct a ramp....

SK's On Saturday, August 30th, John Tieskotter is organizing a ramp construction project. It will have a 12' ramp and a 5' x 10' deck. The address is 416 South Pine Street, Apt. 107, Marshfield. The Apt owner has previously given him permission to construct something on the site. It would be really appreciated if you could come out and assist John; this is a very important cause that will greatly benefit folks who require ramps to enter and exit their homes. The start time is unknown to me, although I would guess it is 8 or 9 a.m. Sometime this coming week, I will obtain a precise time and include it in a reminder email.

Update on Don Broyles

Brothers, I spoke with one of Don's daughters today and asked how he was doing. He is still in the hospital and has had another setback. It looked as if he would be moving to a care facility while he recovered from this last infection but before they moved him, his mood and behavior changed. They were concerned that he had another stroke. They now think it may be caused by a reaction to one of the meds he is on, so they are going to switch him over to a different medication and see if things improve. I asked if there was anything that the Knights could do and she said just pray, knock God's door down with prayers. They need us flooding heaven with prayers for Don, please brothers lift him and his family up in prayer.

Exemplification

Brothers, tomorrow one of our own will become a 4th degree knight. Dave Lewis will be participating in the 4th Degree Exemplification in Verona, MO. I will be meeting him there, I plan to be there around 9 am.  If you are not a fourth degree and would like to see what a fourth degree exemplification looks like, this is a perfect opportunity, It should be a great time. If you would like to attend things kick off at 10 am, there will be registration and line up before that. The ceremony should be complete by noon as there is a lunch for new 4th degree members and  those who RSVP'd.  If you want to attend the address is 22383 Lawrence 1180, Verona, MO 65769 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The assembly will also be honoring Father David Miller.

Prayers for Brother's John Tieskotter and his family.

Brother's John Tieskotter reached out to me the other day, him and his whole family could use a lot of prayers. John's nephew's nephew has died, he was only teenager, they are asking for prayers for the family and for his soul. They are not releasing details but it was tragic and unexpected. The family is still working out funeral plans at this time. 

Bless, O God of eternal life, all who have died tragically. Grant them rest and peace in the assurance of your compassion and love. Comfort those who mourn in their deep sense of loss. Strengthen them to face feelings of pain, and anger and help us to reach out in love to all who mourn for this young person. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Don Broyles

Our brother knight Don Broyles has taken another bad turn, and is in need of prayers. His wonderful wife Chris has humbly asked for prayers for Don.

This is the message that I received from Deacon Mike that came from Chris. 

"Good evening! I'm humbly asking for prayers for Don. He has landed in the ER once again. Apparently he was not completely over the UTI, and now he has another hospital stay. They will be admitting him tonight, on 3B in room number 73. Don declined yesterday and began hallucinating this morning. Unsure if this will interfere with his scheduled eye surgery on Thursday. Both Don and I would certainly appreciate him being remembered in prayer. Thanks so much."

Brothers please add both Don and Chris to your prayers. 

Prayer for the sick invoking Jesus' miraculous healings

Lord Jesus Christ, Savior and consoler of our weakness, who delivered Peter’s mother-in-law and the ruler’s son from a high fever; who restored strength to the paralytic, cleansed the lepers, healed the centurion’s servant; who saved the woman suffering from hemorrhage, raised up the man lying helpless on his pallet at the pool of Bethsaida, went about the towns and villages healing all kinds of ailments … may the sick … be freed from their illness and restored in body and mind, and may rightly see fit to praise your power until the end of their days; you who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

August Council Meeting

Brothers, we have our Installation of Officers, tomorrow night. Please come join us at 6:30pm we will start with some great pulled pork then at 7pm we will start the installation. When the installation is complete we will have a short meeting. Friends and families are welcome to join us, please invite any potential members.

Brothers, next Tuesday the 12th we will have the Installation of Officers this is open for family and friends to attend. Thanks to SK Gary Gray we will have pulled pork and sides to eat starting at 6:30pm, then at 7pm we will begin the installation, with a short meeting to follow. Our guests will be welcome to stay during the meeting as we will have cake and ice cream right after. Officers please wear your Knights polo or button up with nice pants, no shorts please.  During the meeting we will be discussing the fish frys and other business that is needed. If you have a prospective member, invite them to come, it should be a good time. I will send an agenda out closer to the meeting if you have something that you want to be brought up, please message and let me know so I can make sure it's on the agenda.  According to the Holy Trinity calendar there is no Mass or Reconciliation that day but there will be Adoration at 5pm. Brothers thank you for all you do and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Brothers, we have a great opportunity quickly approaching, August 23rd in Verona, MO, there is a Fourth Degree Exemplification. If you are planning on going to receive your Fourth Degree please email or message me, we need to get your form and payment sent in.I have attached the form as well, if you don't have a way to print it let me know and I can meet you with a copy. We have to get this done this week so they have an accurate headcount.

Below is the email that our Worthy District Deputy sent out today. 

"I’m asking if you all can email me back if you have paperwork that still needs to be mailed in or turned in. What I’m looking for is a head count. Right now our State West District Marshall David Govero informed me our State Master Mike Grudenski states he only has six applications and payments. Brothers, we need this information by this week. If you know you have paperwork please email me. I have included our District Marshall on this email so he too will have an idea of how we proceed forward. Thank you for all you brothers do for the Order."

While joining several of our brothers from the area for what should be a fun and informative night that will help build connections to other councils. August 7th will be our first Fraternal benefit night at the Knights Hall in Springfield. Presenter will be Ben Krapu, Asst. General Agent to John Mahon. He will be speaking about the Fraternal Benefits we receive as members of the Knights of Columbus with emphasis on Mutual Funds. Council 698 will be sponsoring the beverages and we are looking for other councils to join in for a night of brotherhood with your fellow brother Knight. This year Supreme has made it easy to complete your FBN's. This would be a good start to get the first one under our belts. Here is the agenda for the evening:

5:30 pm Rosary

6-6:45 PM Social: Food, beverage and Fraternity. 

7-8:00 pm FBN.

That's it. I would ask if you email this to your members and encourage those who want to attend to RSVP to this email. I know most of you do your own night to get these important FBN accomplished, but why not try something different. I hope to see you there.

Prayer Request

I recieved the message below from John Tieskotter about his brother-in-law, Dan Gardner. Please add him to your prayers, he is in desperate need of God's healing touch.

My brother-in-law Dan Gardner made it through surgery yesterday in La Crosse Wisconsin. They removed a portion of his pancreas,his spleen, part of his stomach and some lymph nodes. Please send out a message of prayers from our brother Knights. 4 lymph nodes came back with cancer in them. Dan is on an all liquid as of today.

Prayer for someone who is ill

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.

(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom we are praying, Dan Gardner and all those who we know that are sick) 

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen

Thank you for all the prayers for my brother-in Law Dan Gardner as he now can eat solid food that don't affect his diabetes as he's on insulin for Diabetes. He's at home recuperating from surgery. Thank you for all prayers!!!
